Temple site survey (IMAGE) University of Reading Caption Traditional geophysical survey image (L) side by side with a gamma-ray spectrometer survey image (R) at the Temple site in Silchester. The boundary wall (Temenos wall) is clearly visible in both images as a green shape, indicating low radiation relative to the surrounding substrate. This could indicate that the materials used to build the wall were imported from a different location with a different radiological signature and could be made from a material with lower concentrations of naturally occurring radioactivity, such as sandstone.
