Radio-collared snowshoe hare (IMAGE)
Caption
A radio-collared snowshoe hare (Lepus americanus) in central Wisconsin exhibiting camouflage mismatch (misalignment of the timing of seasonal coat color molts with snow conditions) during late winter/early spring. Camouflage mismatch results in increased predation among snowshoe hares, and is linked to range contractions of the species, resulting in altered biotic interactions within wildlife communities.
