Silencing tomato genes with the spray (IMAGE) RIKEN Caption Evidence that the system can be used to silence genes in tomatoes. The peptide carrier (top), interfering RNA (middle), or the complex containing both (bottom) were sprayed on a tomato plant's leaves. The tomato plant was designed to overexpress a green fluorescent protein. When the RNA/CPP complex was used, green fluorescence was absent, indicating that the gene driving expression of green fluorescent protein was silenced.
