Methane sampling sometimes consists simply of cutting water bottles in half, floating them on the surface of a lake, and measuring the increase in methane over time within the bottle headspace. Such bottles can be seen here on a fishing boat departing from a bustling floating village on Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake.
