Friedel-like oscillations of one-dimensional confined water (IMAGE)
Caption
On the left, the axial density distribution of water molecules confined in carbon nanotubes oscillates in the presence of a local perturbation, with a decay from the perturbed site. On the right, in the presence of external pressure, the mass transport is significantly different from that in the perfect channel. Ions are totally rejected near the remote entrance in some cases with local perturbations of enough intensity.
