Brain areas showing shared information about personally familiar faces and shared information about visually familiar faces (IMAGE)
Caption
The analysis revealed shared information about personally familiar identities (top) in areas involved in social cognition, such as the dorso-medial prefrontal cortex, the precuneus, the insula, and the temporo-parietal junction. Shared information about visually familiar identities was present only in areas involved in visual processing of faces, such as the occipital face area and the fusiform face area.
