Movie of Lentipes armatus and L. kijimuna (VIDEO)
Caption
The movie shows the goby, Lentipes armatus, and a similar fish with unique coloration, later described as a new species, Lentipes kijimuna, in a study by Dr. Ken Maeda, a staff scientist in the Marine Eco-Evo-Devo Unit. Gobies live and reproduce in freshwater streams and are bottom-dwellers, typically eating algae. Their pelvic fins are fused together to form a suction cup to help them stay in place against river currents.
