This is a colorized scanning electron microscope image of the new species from Alaska Collected in 1873 but sat hiding in a museum collection room for 142 years before being recognized as a new species, named Exosphaeroma paydenae in honor of Joan Payden a passionate supporter of science at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
