A Mass Spectrometry Device to Assist in Surgical Oncology (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers at the University of Lille developed a device (right) called the SpiderMass that can ionize lipids, metabolites and proteins at atmospheric pressure, remote from the mass spectrometer. They are testing the device and an algorithm using the data it generates to differentiate healthy from cancerous tissue in pet dogs with sarcoma (left).
