<i>Colias hecla</i>

In the newly published study, the scientists present the longest known time series on variations in body size of butterfly species. Above is the Northern clouded yellow (Colias hecla) which is the second of the two species that the scientists have studied. Body size is strongly related to dispersal capacity and fecundity, and the results suggest that the Arctic species face severe challenges in response to ongoing rapid climate change.
