Lattice Structures of the Graphene Sample

This is a side view of lattice structures of epitaxial monolayer graphene (EMLG) and quasi-free-standing monolayer graphene (QFMLG), before (left) and after (right) doping with nitrogen. The scale on the right shows the thickness of the samples in ångström, where the zero point marks the interface between substrate and graphene layer. After doping, the EMLG sample contains nitrogen atoms in the graphene only, while the QFMLG sample also exhibits nitrogen in the interface layer.
