Nighttime Satellite Images (IMAGE)
Caption
Nighttime images taken by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite Day-Night Band on the Suomi NPP satellite. They show Tucson, USA on the nights of March 31, 2019 (when most streetlights were dimmed to 30% of maximum) and on April 7, 2019 (when streetlights were set to full power). The difference is largest towards the western outskirts of the city, where streetlights make up a greater fraction of the total light emission.
