3-dimensional structure of siderophore A (SidA) (IMAGE)
Caption
A 3-dimensional structure of siderophore A (SidA), which is produced by Aspergillus fumigatus, a fungal species. SidA is involved in the biosynthesis of siderophores, or iron-stealing molecules, and is essential for infection. This enzyme is the most understood of all of the flavoenzymes. Both the structure and mechanisms have been identified in the Sobrado Laboratory.
