An interdisciplinary research team at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has developed a radically new antiviral treatment: they engulf and thereby neutralize viruses with nano-capsules tailored from genetic material. The strategy has already been tested against hepatitis and adeno-associated viruses in cell cultures. The image shows lead author Christian Sigl preparing the nano-capsules in the laboratory of the Center for Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials at TUM.
