This is an artist's rendition of the rumen microbiome and complements a news release for a Nature Biotechnology paper co-authored by Joint Genome Institute scientists. The paper describes a reference catalog of rumen microbial genomes and isolates, one of the largest targeted cultivation and sequencing projects to date.
