The lost crops of eastern North America have small seeds with thick, indigestible fruit or seed coats in their wild forms. They include: goosefoot (Chenopodium berlandieri); little barley (Hordeum pusillum); sumpweed (Iva annua); maygrass (Phalaris caroliniana); and erect knotweed (Polygonum erectum).
