Custom Chinrest (IMAGE)
Caption
The new imaging technique can capture images of rod and cone photoreceptors in the eye with unprecedented detail, which could lead to new treatments and earlier detection for retinal diseases such as macular degeneration. The researchers made this custom chinrest so that they could use their adaptive optics retinal imaging instrument to image photoreceptors in people.
