TiY (IMAGE) Institute for Basic Science Caption TiY has the potential to become a universal sensor of tumor-initiating cells (TICs). The microscope images show the tumor spheres formed from cells brightly stained with TiY (TiY+, top) and dimly stained (TiY-, bottom) derived from various cancer cell lines: lung, melanoma, prostate, ovarian, renal, breast, central nervous system (CNS), and colon. TICs form more and bigger tumor spheres, demonstrating TiY's ability to stain and select TICs selectively. The chemical structure of TiY is shown on the right.
