DsbA-Lは各組織に働きかけて肺の機能を保護している。疫学的研究において、DsbA-Lが脂肪細胞では肺機能を高めるアディポネクチンを活性化し、血液中では肺機能に有害な酸化ストレスを抑える抗酸化作用を持つことが明らかになった。ヒト肺上皮細胞による研究では、DsbA-Lが直接的な抗酸化作用を発揮し、粘液の産生を抑えることが判明した。
