The MAGIC Telescopes (IMAGE) Max Planck Institute for Physics Caption View of the MAGIC telescopes located on the Canary island of La Palma, Spain, in an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level. MAGIC studies dynamic celestial objects as supernovae or Active Galactic Nuclei. With their 17-meter wide mirrors the telescopes collect Cherenkov light formed when energetic gamma-rays hit the Earth's atmosphere. Measuring light of the highest energy ranges, the MAGIC telescopes allow to us to study remote objects born at early stages of the universe.
