This infrared image of Tropical Storm Nicole's cold (purple and blue) thunderstorms was taken from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite on Sept. 29 at 0723 UTC (3:23 a.m. EDT). The purple areas indicate high, cold thunderstorm cloud tops colder than -65 Fahrenheit.
