Graphical representation of the octahedral cage held together by palladium atoms at each vertex, which in turn are bound to long organic polymer chains. The cage holds cargo molecules (orange dot). In the images on the left and in the centre, ultrasound waves exert shear force on the polymer chains, ultimately causing the cage to rupture and the cargo to be released.
