Amphistium (drawings) (IMAGE) Field Museum Caption These two drawings of Amphistium show that the fish has one eye on each side of its head, although they are not in the same corresponding position. This indicates that the eye has migrated somewhat and the skull is asymmetrical. In some individuals of Amphistium, the right eye migrates (fish in front), while in others the left eye migrates (fish in back). This differs from most living flatfish species, which are either right- or left-eyed. Credit Drawing by M. Friedman, courtesy of The Field Museum.
