Lattice structure at the STESS-SPEC instrument

Neutrons can "see" through metal. Therefore neutron diffraction is an ideal method for measuring residual stress inside of components made by additive manufacturing. The image shows a lattice structure in the measurement position on the residual stress diffractometer STRESS-SPEC at the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz of the Technical University of Munich.
