Embryo Development (Image) (IMAGE)
Caption
Increased temperatures cause increased rates of development and an altered developmental trajectory in the embryonic stages of this pond snail. Here embryos are four days into their development and show marked differences in appearance, particularly between 25 and 30°C. At 30°C embryos sustain a dramatic increase in heart rate, but a significant overall reduction in movement.
