Die Netzhaut der Medakafische mit Mutation im ALG2-Gen zeigt einen voranschreitenden Verlust (magentafarben) der Stäbchenzellen (links) im Gegensatz zu wildtypischen Individuen. Dieses Symptom ist auch als Nachtblindheit oder Retinitis pigmentosa bekannt.
