A <i>Nasonia vitripennis</i> female injecting venom into a fly pupa

A Nasonia vitripennis female injecting venom into a fly pupa before laying her eggs inside the pupal case (the brown outer covering). The venom will paralyze the developing fly and keep it in a state of suspended animation as the wasp larvae hatch and consume the pupa over the course of a week.
