Synthesis Process

Researchers show the synthetic process they use to create photo responsive reinforcing agents. A carbon nanotube, or CNT, is treated with a photo-reactive molecule called benzophenone. After exposure to ultraviolet light, the molecules bond to the surrounding polymer chain. This creates a covalent link between the nanotube and the polymer.
