In the past, the researchers identified a gene in Zygnema algae that could play a role in stress hormone regulation. Now they have characterized the gene's function. The image was taken by confocal laser-scanning microscopy and shows cell walls (in blue) and chloroplasts (in red) of the Zygnema algae.
