The tagged neuron near its head glows when it is seeking stronger food odors and the worm changes direction in response to move towards the food. On the graph, the blue trace indicates the strength of the neural fluorescence and the black trace represents the worm's position relative to the strength of the food odor. The video is part of research led by Dirk Albrecht, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
