Caption
Illustration of a cardiac sarcomere, the elementary unit of cardiac muscle cells that contracts on a beat-to-beat basis. By being precisely positioned near the center of the sarcomere, myosin-binding protein C (MyBP-C) helps heart muscle turn on uniformly with each beat. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Feb. 20, 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by M.J.
