Map of Colombia's mining operations (shown in dark red on the left) and new mining requests (shown in light red on the right) as of 2009. With the resolution of armed conflict, the legal mining operations are expected to increase, especially in areas previously influenced by FARC. On the bright side, the peace agreement may reduce illegal mining activities.
