Small Farms Benefit Significantly From a Few Extra Pollinators (2 of 3)

<i>Apis mellifera</i> on <i>Phacelia tanacetifolia</i>. Flower strips along crop fields attract pollinators and can increase the number of pollinators in the focal crop. Here, a honey bee is seen approaching a lacy phacelia in bloom, a highly attractive plant to bees (note the blue pollen baskets on the hind legs). This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 22 January 2016, issue of <i>Science</i>, published by AAAS. The paper, by Lucas Alejandro Garibaldi at Instituto de Investigaciones en Recursos Naturales, Agroecolog&iacute;a y Desarrollo Rural (IRNAD) in R&iacute;o Negro, Argentina, and colleagues was titled, "Mutually beneficial pollinator diversity and crop yield outcomes in small and large farms."
