Snake Tracking (IMAGE) University of South Carolina Caption University of South Carolina researcher Jennifer Fill's doctoral work involved eastern diamondback rattlesnakes that were implanted with radio transmitters. A tracking device was used to find the rattlesnakes. Fill would locate them at least once a week when they weren't hibernating, and more often than that if they were moving often. One snake, dubbed Eddie, was lost because he was traveling so far as the transmitter battery was dying.
