This image from a study published by Nature Medicine shows human intestinal organoids with enteric (intestinal) nerves generated in a petri dish using human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). hPSCs can become any cell type in the body. Researchers at Cincinnati Children's say the organoids can be used to conduct laboratory studies into the causes of intestinal disorders in a human modeling system and also explore new therapies.
