Inversion of focal mechanisms and relocation results for the mainshock and some aftershocks (IMAGE)
Caption
The mainshock was located at the eastern mergin of a dense aftershock area, exhibiting a reverse thrust mechanism with a strike-slip component. Another dense aftershock area, along with several aftershocks above Ms 3.0, appeared north of the main fault at the northern margin of the Lajishan Fault Zone, sharing the same mechanism as the mainshock, suggesting activation of the same fault system. To the west of the mainshock, aftershocks were densely distributed, accompanied by multiple Ms 3.0+ events, including pure strike-slip aftershocks. This area corresponds to a secondary fault of the main Lajishan Fault, which exhibited significant activity following the mainshock.
