Typical greenhouse gas emissions over the lifetime of a clothes dryer (IMAGE)
Caption
Producing the energy required to power the typical non-Energy Star (ES) certified electric dryer for its service lifetime emits the equivalent of roughly 3,800 kilograms of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. That's according to a lifecycle analysis performed by researchers at the University of Michigan, who compared different dryers to line drying, which results in no emissions.
