The oviposition of the parasitoid wasp Asobara japonica

The endoparasitoid wasp A. japonica injects its ovipositor into the host Drosophila larva, depositing both venom and an egg. The host larva is temporarily anesthetized, but later recovers, grows, and pupariates.
