The researchers’ analysis led them to pinpoint the location of certain proteins for which this information wasn’t previously known. These included the protein TMEM184C (in grayscale; cell nuclei in teal), which they determined is found in the lysosome, a circular organelle containing enzymes that are part of the cell’s waste-disposal system.
