Wild Arabidopsis seeds (IMAGE)
Caption
The Martienssen lab crossed wild Arabidopsis seeds with various mutant strains. In some instances, as in the image on the left, only 10% of the plant ovules developed into seeds. However, in other cases, about 90% bore viable seeds. In one case (the third image from the left), 50% of the seeds didn’t make it.
