Ripan S. Malhi, left, and Alida de Flamingh led the genomic work on the hairs, which was conducted separately from the microscopic analysis. They identified hairs from giraffe, human, oryx, waterbuck, wildebeest and zebra as prey, along with hairs that originated from the lions.
