Formation and disappearance of the Parthenon-like structure in the Parthenon stage (Stage III) (IMAGE)
Caption
After epithelial cells gradually elongate pillarlike processes and form the Parthenon-like structure (A-B’), the pillarlike processes shrink again (C, C’), and eventually the Parthenon-like structure becomes no longer observed (D-D’). A’, B’, C’ and D' are enlargements of the areas enclosed by dotted lines in A, B, C and D, respectively. The green are cytoplasm and the magenta are nuclei.
