Olaug Elisabeth Torheim Bergum and her colleague Amanda Holstad Singleton from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology have studied how E. coli bacteria react when exposed to the antibiotic Ciprofloxacin. The bacteria were grown in this bioreactor. “In a reactor like this, we have complete control over the growth conditions. This gives us results that are easier to reproduce,” says Bergum.
