Drill core taken off the Antarctic coast (IMAGE)
Caption
Drill core taken from the ocean floor off the Antarctic coast during a previous expedition in which dr Peter Bijl (Utrecht University) participated (IOPD Expedition 318, 2010). The rocks in the drill core are the debris stones brought in by icebergs, in the greenish ocean floor mud.
