As part of a National Science Foundation program, Dr. Kristin Ulmer traveled to Turkey to assess liquefaction damage after a massive earthquake in 2023. Ulmer will lead a team working to improve liquefaction models to help the Federal Highway Administration identify where mitigation efforts are needed to shore up America’s roads, bridges and tunnels.
