AI leads to rare disease diagnosis for families (VIDEO)
Caption
For 10-year-old Antony and his family, getting a rare disease diagnosis answered so many questions. Using AI (artificial intelligence), CHEO researchers have developed ThinkRare - a world-first search algorithm that identifies children and youth who may have an undiagnosed rare genetic disease. It's like searching for a needle in a haystack. Thanks to this research and innovation, led by Dr. Kym Boycott Senior Scientist at the CHEO Research Institute and Chief of Genetics at CHEO, Antony was diagnosed with Chung-Jansen Syndrome, finally giving his family clarity and peace.
