A porpoise getting tagged (IMAGE) Aarhus University Caption A tracking device is being placed on a harbor porpoise. The device is attached with suction cups to cause as little discomfort in the animal as possible. Unfortunately this means that the devices typically fall off after a day or two. When that happens it floats on the surface sending out a GPS-signal and waiting to be picked up by the researcher.
