Kobe University biochemical engineer MARUYAMA Tatsuo noticed that clumps of Mn007 had the ability to inhibit a bovine DNA-cleaving enzyme that is functionally very similar to the one used by Streptococcus and tested the specificity of this mechanism and its applicability to Streptococcus versions of the enzyme.
