Raymond Shaw (a joint appointee of Brookhaven Lab and Michigan Technological University, MTU) with Yong Meng Sua (Stevens Institute of Technology) and Fan Yang (Brookhaven Lab) with the high-resolution cloud lidar. Both Yang and Suawere previously graduate students at MTU, with Yang earning his Ph.D.under Shaw’s mentorship. Years after graduating, the two former students collaborated to develop the lidar, which combines Sua’s expertise in optics with Yang’s focus on atmospheric science.
