PolyU researchers invent non-invasive diagnostic device Smart-CKD for advancing clinical management of chronic kidney disease (IMAGE)

Decision curve analysis for the S-CKD tool in the training cohort (A) and the validation cohort (B). The y-axis indicates the net benefit, and the x-axis shows the risk threshold. The red line represents S-CKD. The blue line represents the assumption that all patients have moderate-severe renal pathological impairment. The black line indicates that none of the patients have moderate-to-severe impairment. The net benefit was calculated by subtracting the proportion of false-positive patients from the proportion of true-positive patients, weighted by the relative harm of forgoing treatment compared with the negative consequences of unnecessary treatment. The decision curve shows that using our S-CKD tool to predict moderate-severe impairment risk is more beneficial than the treat-all or treat-none strategies at a wide range of risk probabilities.
